Candle Care Guide

Wilson & Wick™ Candle Care

Welcome

Every Wilson & Wick™ candle is hand-poured in small batches using premium ingredients to create a clean, even burn and a beautiful fragrance experience. With proper care, your candle will burn longer, perform better, and fill your space with fragrance from the first light to the last.

Getting the Best Burn

Trim Your Wick

Before every burn, trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch (6 mm).

A properly trimmed wick:

  • Creates a cleaner flame
  • Reduces soot
  • Prevents mushrooming
  • Helps your candle burn evenly

Your First Burn Is the Most Important

The first burn sets the “memory” of your candle.

Allow your candle to burn until the melted wax reaches nearly the edge of the jar.

Recommended first burn: 3–4 hours

Extinguishing your candle too early can cause tunneling, making it difficult for future burns to reach the edges.

Burn Responsibly

For the best performance:

  • Burn no longer than 4 hours at a time.
  • Keep away from fans, open windows, and air vents.
  • Burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings and debris.

When to Stop Burning

For your safety, discontinue use when approximately ½ inch (13 mm) of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel.

Extinguishing Your Candle

For the cleanest experience:

  • Use a candle snuffer when possible.
  • If blowing out the flame, do so gently.
  • Re-center the wick while the wax is still liquid if needed.
  • Allow the candle to cool completely before replacing the lid.

Storage Tips

To preserve fragrance and appearance:

  • Store in a cool 68F to 78F, dry place.
  • Avoid direct sunlight.
  • Keep the lid on when not in use.
