Some of the most beautiful photo sessions are also some of the hardest ones to get ready for.
A sunrise session means waking up while most people are still asleep, getting everything together in the dark, and arriving on location before that first crack of light appears on the horizon.
Many of our early-morning sessions have taken place on the beaches of San Francisco. The city is still quiet, the air is cool, and the beach belongs mostly to a few early risers and dog walkers.
And yes, sometimes those dog walkers give us that look.
“She’s wearing a bikini at this time in the morning?”
But then the sun begins to peek over the horizon.
The light changes.
The sky starts to glow.
And suddenly you remember exactly why you got up so early.
There is something else happening at that same moment, too. It isn't just the light. The air feels different. It feels fresh and clean, almost as if Mother Nature is waking up right alongside you.
That feeling became the inspiration for Morning Light.
Naming this candle wasn't easy. We went back and forth between Morning Light and Golden Hour because photographers know just how special golden hour can be. That beautiful outdoor light happens around sunrise and sunset, but it never stays for long. At sunrise, the sun climbs quickly and those soft golden rays begin to disappear. At sunset, you're racing the opposite direction as the light fades away.
You have to be there when it happens.
We chose Morning Light because this candle isn't only about beautiful light.
It's about the beginning of something.
It's the cool air on the beach.
It's the quiet before the city wakes up.
It's watching the first sunlight touch the water.
It's that little feeling of excitement while we're setting up our cameras and realizing the moment we've been waiting for is finally here.
And we know not everyone wants to wake up before sunrise, pack their things, and head to a San Francisco beach just to experience it.
So we tried to capture a little piece of that moment in a candle.
Morning Light is for the early risers who already understand the magic—and for everyone else who would rather experience sunrise without setting an alarm.
