Fireside Vanilla | The Story / La Historia

Fireside Vanilla

Wilson & Wick™ | Romance Series

Some memories live in photographs. Others linger in the air.

There are photography sessions you remember for the photographs you took. Others stay with you for reasons you never expected. This one involved an old wooden cabin, a glowing fireplace, a little mystery, and the unforgettable smell of warm vanilla.

We were fortunate to have a returning boudoir photography client who traveled from Florida to California to visit family in the Bay Area. Sometimes she visited in the summer, sometimes in the winter, and occasionally more than once a year. Whenever she came west, she often made time for a boudoir session with us.

For her, these sessions were about creating keepsake memories. Beautiful photographs she could look back on and remember a particular time in her life.

Then one day, she reached out with a different idea.

She was planning a winter visit to Reno, Nevada, and wondered if we'd be willing to make the drive for another photography session.

Reno was no stranger to us. Between our visits for Vicky's birthday, Street Vibrations, and spending time with friends who lived in the area, we'd made plenty of memories there ourselves. So we told her we'd be happy to come. We just needed enough notice to make arrangements.

About a month later, we were on our way.

A Cabin, a Camera, and a Little Mystery

The location wasn't some fancy modern cabin with all the latest comforts. It was an old-school wooden cabin, the kind that seems to belong to another time.

And for a boudoir session, that setting had a charm all its own.

There is something romantic about natural wood, the soft glow of a fireplace, and a room where the light seems to tell half the story. As photographers, we appreciate how shadows can reveal just enough while leaving the rest to the imagination.

Some beauty is meant to be seen. Some is better left a mystery.

Our client was normally a chocolate-chip Frappuccino kind of person. That was her usual drink. But being so far from the places where she could get one, she had to settle for something different.

And that unexpected change became the part of the day we'd remember years later.

Instead of her usual cold drink, she had something warm, slightly spiced, with a beautiful vanilla aroma.

It wasn't just the vanilla itself. There was something about the warmth of the drink, the spices, and the way it blended with the atmosphere of that wooden cabin.

She sat near the fireplace, enjoying her drink as the flames cast their amber light across the room. The fire crackled, the cabin felt warm, and that wonderful vanilla fragrance seemed to become part of the setting.

Vanilla hung in the room like a quiet promise.

There was something intimate about it. Not necessarily something you could explain in a photograph, but something you could feel.

Perhaps it was the firelight. Perhaps it was the warmth of the drink. Or perhaps she'd simply added a little love of her own.

Whatever it was, we remembered it.

A Fragrance Born from a Photograph We Couldn't Take

We didn't stay much longer after the photography session, but that vanilla scent stayed in our memories.

Later, while working on our campfire-inspired candles, including our s'mores fragrances, we found ourselves thinking about that cabin in Reno.

We remembered the fireplace, the wooden surroundings, and that unexpected warm vanilla drink.

As photographers, we can capture the way firelight falls across a room. We can photograph the warmth in someone's expression, the shadows against the wood, and the beauty of a moment.

But how do you photograph a smell?

How do you share the warmth of a memory with someone who wasn't there?

That's where Wilson & Wick comes in.

We wanted to take what our eyes remembered and what our noses never forgot, then give that memory a fragrance of its own.

And so, Fireside Vanilla was born.

Our interpretation of warm vanilla, gentle spice, fireside comfort, and just a hint of romance.

Of course, we had to give it a little Wilson & Wick magic. After all, you weren't there in that cabin with us. You didn't see the fireplace or experience that warm, inviting fragrance.

But maybe, just maybe, we've captured enough of that moment for you to imagine it.

Some Moments Are Better Left to the Imagination

Fireside Vanilla isn't simply about a warm drink beside a fireplace.

It's about those quiet moments when everything around you seems to slow down. When the light is just right, the room feels comfortable, and there's something wonderful about being exactly where you are.

Maybe your memory is of a winter cabin, a romantic evening beside someone special, or a warm drink shared while the fire slowly burns down.

Or maybe it's a memory that belongs only to you.

We'll leave that part of the story to your imagination.

Fireside Vanilla. A little warmth, a little mystery, and a touch of love lingering beside the fire.

Fireside Vanilla | La historia en español

Wilson & Wick™ | Serie Romance
