Wax Melt Care Guide
Wax Melt Care Guide
All the fragrance. No candle wick. Our Wilson & Wick™ soy wax melts are hand-poured in Antioch, California. A little care helps you enjoy their fragrance safely.
Quick safety reminder: Wax melts do not have a wick, but warmers and melted wax can become hot. Never leave a warmer unattended while in use.
Getting Started
- Choose an approved warmer. Use only a listed electric wax warmer or a tea-light warmer specifically designed for wax melts. Read and follow the warmer manufacturer's instructions.
- Remove all packaging. Take your wax melt out of its clamshell or other packaging before placing it in the warmer dish.
- Start small. Begin with one piece or cube and adjust only as allowed by the warmer's capacity. Never overfill the dish.
- Enjoy in a ventilated room. Set the warmer on a level, heat-resistant surface, clear of curtains, paper, and other flammable items.
- Turn off and cool. Switch off or extinguish the warmer according to its instructions before leaving the room. Allow the wax and dish to cool completely before touching or moving them.
Wax Melt Safety
- Never leave a warmer unattended while in use or operating.
- Keep warmers, cords, and wax out of reach of children and pets.
- Do not add water or other liquids to the wax.
- Do not heat wax melts in a microwave, on a stove, or in an appliance not approved for wax melts.
- Never move or pour hot melted wax. Do not touch a hot warming dish.
- Keep the warmer away from flammable objects, drafts, and areas where it may be knocked over.
- Follow the warmer's limits for wax amount and run time. Never operate a warmer with an empty dish; discontinue melting when there is too little wax for safe use under your warmer's instructions.
- Wax melts are for home fragrance only. Do not eat them or apply melted wax to skin.
Wax melts provide a flameless fragrance option when used with an electric warmer. Tea-light warmers use an open flame and require the same fire precautions as candles.
When Should I Change the Wax?
Wax melts release fragrance as they warm. The wax does not burn away like a candle. Once the scent becomes faint, it's time to replace it.
Turn off the warmer and follow the warmer manufacturer's instructions for safely removing old wax. Let the warmer cool as directed. Never pour liquid wax down a sink or drain.
How Do I Store My Wax Melts?
Keep wax melts in their closed packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, children, and pets. Store separately from food.
Why Does My Wax Look Frosted?
Light frosting or minor color variation can naturally appear in soy-based wax. These changes are common and do not necessarily mean the product is defective.
